The RUHungry website and "Can We Talk" bulletin board are intended to provide a forum for alums of The Renfrew Center to continue positive, pro-recovery dialogue through continued communication with each other. By using this web site you are agreeing to the rules, terms and conditions outlined below, which were created to protect our users. We reserve the right to revise and update these rules, terms and conditions at any time. This website is moderated and we have enabled a 24-hour delay on all posts to make sure that messages promote recovery.
RULES
- Your privacy is important to us, but it is important to remember that the Internet is a public place. Any personally identifiable information that we collect when you sign up for the RUHungry website is completely confidential. Neither The Renfrew Center nor the RUHungry website will ever distribute or sell this information to any third party.
- We are concerned about your welfare, as well as the welfare of others on the RUHungry website. Please remember that while our bulletin board is a good space for mutual support and self-help, they cannot take the place of your doctor, therapist or your local crisis center. If you are in danger, call your doctor or therapist, local crisis line, 911, or a family member. The moderators, visitors/posters are not qualified to diagnose or give any type of treatment advice when it comes to your personal situation.
- Please be aware that some of the topics discussed are of sensitive nature and can be triggering for certain individuals.
- This section contains rules that all members must observe. Failure to do so may result in your loss of access to the RUHungry website community without warning.
- Personal attacks, foul language, or abusive behavior, as judged by the moderators, will not be tolerated. The moderator has the right to refuse access to users that disrupt the community, and will do so.
- Flooding, flaming, spamming and advertisements of any types of products without the express written consent of the RUHungry website as well as the use of programs such as bots scripts, worms, or Trojan horses will NOT BE TOLERATED for any reason. Any type of participation in this type of activity will cause you to be permanently banned from the "Can We Talk" bulletin board. In addition, we will report you to your ISP for termination of your account.
- Do not post personal information (addresses, phone numbers, etc.) on the screen. This is for your protection.
- Messages that might put The Renfrew Center or the RUHungry website at legal risk regarding libel, slander, or other legal issues should not be posted. If found, appropriate action taken against the person who posted the message will be taken. This includes "chain" letters, pyramid schemes, multi-level marketing, and other such activities.
- We reserve the right to edit or reject posts that include any of the following:
- Any numerical information which relates to body weight, caloric intake, body fat composition, exercise minutes or any other similar numerical information.
- Comments or content which promotes, in any manner, eating disorders.
- Competitive and/or boastful comments about eating disorders.
- Links to anti-recovery websites.
- Negative comments and/or personal information about others.
- Serious medical concerns or questions.
Regarding the Use of Our Site by Children
Our site is intended for adults and adolescents 14 years of age and older. Because you can visit our site without disclosing any personal information, we do not know when a child is viewing our site. We encourage parents to speak with their children about the personal information they share online and privacy issues involving use of the Internet.
How we Use Your Personal Information
We will only use your information to send updates or newsletters from The Renfrew Center which may be of interest to you. If any time you choose not to receive these mailings, please call us at 1-800-RENFREW ext. 3293. We will promptly respond to your request instructions.
We never give, sell, or rent any of your identifying information.
